Dental Procedure-Friendly Recipes

Dental Procedure-Friendly Recipes

After a dental procedure, such as an extraction or a root canal, you may be advised to stick to a “soft diet” for a few days to allow for proper healing. When you first hear that term you mind might think of jello and mashed potatoes. Nothing against these two, but there are more exciting options out there! We would like to share with you a couple of easy recipes you can make ahead, make yourself, or have a friend or family member help you with in the days following your dental procedure.

Roasted Butternut Squash Soup

Ingredients:

1 butternut squash, cubed (can purchase a package of chopped butternut squash, or peel and chop squash into 1 inch cubes)

1 sprig of rosemary

2 sprigs thyme

¼ cup Olive Oil

1 tsp kosher salt

1 tsp pepper

3-4 cups of chicken stock (depending on size of butternut squash and desired consistency of soup)

½ cup of half and half (optional)

Directions:

Preheat oven to 425 deg F. On a sheet pan lined with non-stick foil, spread cubed butternut squash into a single layer. Coat with olive oil and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Remove leaves from rosemary and thyme sprigs and sprinkle over the squash. Toss to thoroughly coat the butternut squash and ensure it is spread evenly on the sheet pan. Roast for 20 minutes, or until butternut squash is fork-tender.

Remove from oven and allow to cool for 5-10 minutes. Combine roasted squash with 3 cups chicken stock in a blender. Puree on high until squash is fully incorporated. Taste and add salt and pepper to taste. Add more stock for a thinner soup. Finish with half and half, and blend until incorporated.

This soup can be made ahead of time and kept in the refrigerator for 3 days or packaged and frozen for up to a month!

Dental care in Beverly Pediatric Dentistry

Our Story

Dr. Maryam Mohammadi has been one of the leading pediatric dentists in Northern VA and Washington DC for over 22 years. Her philosophy of dental care is “Offering our signature legendary services to our patients”. During her time as a pediatric dentist in McLean and Washington DC, we have had the great pleasure of meeting many families in the area and  watching many children turn from infants into adults.

In November of 2018, we welcomed Paola Annoni Patel DDS, a general and cosmetic dentist, to our practice. She provides dental care to our young adult patients who are growing out of our pediatric practice as well as their parents. Dr. Annoni’s practice is named b. dental studios.

At Beverly Pediatric Dentistry, we believe that establishing a connection with our patients leads to enhanced quality of service and patient experience, and we are so happy that we can now continue to grow that life long connection with our patients by following them into adulthood.

Technology in our office

We also are introducing new technology in the office – the digital intraoral scanner. This device erases the discomfort of using traditional impression materials and allows us to virtually eliminate the inevitable human error involved in the process of impression-taking and fabrication of lab-made prostheses. It is faster, more comfortable, and more accurate!

Invisalign

Now Beverly Family Dentistry is offering Invisalign orthodontic treatment. Since 1999 Invisalign aligner has become an alternative to traditional wired braces. We use our intraoral scanner to create a 3 dimensional image of your teeth. Clear aligners are designed in the computer according to the digital scan, then 3D printers at Aligned technology facility produces the clear aligners.

The main benefits of Invisalign are that the aligners are almost completely invisible and removable which enables the patients to brush and floss easily during their orthodontic treatment. In addition, they also tend to be more comfortable than traditional metal braces. They are made of a smooth plastic that won’t irritate the gums or cheeks the way some brackets and wires might. Invisalign is an efficient method for gently moving teeth in simpler orthodontics cases.

We can’t wait for our patients to see all the new improvements for themselves. If you would like to schedule an appointment, you can reach us at either 703-752-2200 or 202-331-3474, or request an appointment https://www.beverlypedo.com/make-an-appointment/!
